Transforming the Prototype

Baltimore Jewelry Center, Montgomery College, and Towson University invite students, alumni, emerging and established artists to apply for the group exhibition, Transforming the Prototype. Participants are asked to reimagine a traditional ring by radically altering a provided vintage wax pattern. The objective is to reimagine the prototype wax pattern into a bespoke object(s) or jewelry. Participants can integrate new components using wax and have the ring cast; have the ring cast as is and alter it with soldering, sawing, adding stones, etc. or a combination of these processes.

The deadline for submitting work to this call is Wednesday, April 20 at 11:59 pm. 

Accepted works are due to the BJC Gallery by Friday, May 6, 2022.

The exhibition will be on view May 20, 2022 thru July 1, 2022, with an opening reception Friday, May 20, 2022 from 5 -8 pm. 

Deadline to complete this application is by midnight, April 20, 2022.
